Maintenance Manager- Devens, MA

The Opportunity

As a Maintenance Manager at a corrugated container facility, you will be responsible for providing expertise and leadership to the service and maintenance staff while ensuring the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of WestRock’s plant assets. Your role will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement of plant operations to enable efficient, high-quality production of customer products.


How you will impact WestRock:

  • Initiates, implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.

  • Develop and implement the short- and long-term maintenance strategy to enable operating efficiency in alignment with WestRock’s values

  • Directs, maintains, participates in and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA standards.

  • Ensure a safe work environment and adherence to all corporate, state and federal safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and regulations by all maintenance staff

  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Assists in the budgeting, capital planning and financial review of plant performance.

  • Utilizes and maintains JDE system for tracking work orders, PM’s, monitor spare parts, and provide maintenance history of plant equipment. 

  • Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance performance indicators such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, PM/WO completions, etc. to assess operating efficiency and identify opportunities to drive performance excellence

  • Communicates directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.

  • Conducts salaried performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the salaried and hourly maintenance staff.  Provides for training and development as well as coaching and discipline of both salaried and non-union employees.


What you need to succeed:

  • 2- year technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering

  • Minimum of 10 - 15 years in industrial maintenance with supervisory experience of maintenance engineers, electric license and or industrial electrical experience highly desired.

  • Previous corrugated plant experience highly preferred

  • Adept at problem-solving and identifying root cause to implement preventative methods

  • Ability to plan and manage a budget

  • Ability to work within a 24/6 operations facility with flexible in hours and days working

  • Be a strategic thinker with the confidence to make decisions which impact safety, uptime and productivity

  • Ability to coach and develop talent to create a highly productive, safety-conscious team

  • Strong communication skills with ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization
